[Patient Testimonial] I was sophomore, I chose freezing my eggs

On the third day of my period, I went
back to the center and took ultrasonic scanning. I told Dr. Wang, that I didn’t have any
confidence in my condition. However, I still remembered he encouraged me and
said “don’t worry and let’s work on it together.” I felt hopeful and believed no
matter how my treatment will be, Dr. Wang will be there for me. After seeing
Doctor, they arranged me to inject the first long-acting rFSH and needed to
take some luteal support in following days. Donna explained all the details
after then. My feeling was complicated, but happy for starting my first step of
my treatment. Additionally, the APP of from the Stork showing all the steps of
my treatment and the data is really convenient for me to track the status.
However, the app doesn't have English version right now. I believe it will come
out soon.
During the 9th
day of the period, I took the ultrasonic scanning again and then taking blood
testing. Dr. Wang checked my test result and had positive comment on it. He had
confidence to collect at least 10 eggs. Therefore, in order prompt my body to
produce multiple egg, I would be prescribed injection medications.
On 14th day of
my period, it's the day for eggs retrieval. I woke up early and went to Stork
for checking in. I was guided to surgery room. I was checked with ultrasound.
The Sonographer told me "Did you see? You have many eggs in your belly
now." I felt relax and worthy. After surgery, I felt pain. But I heard we
had a great job from Dr. Wang. The surgery was successful and had a great
result. There were total 28 eggs with this retrieval that
was better than I expected. However, I got the bad news about my cysts were
back again. By freezing egg, I felt much power and courage to endure all myhealthconditions.I’m
glad I save my wishes in Stork Fertility Center. This was my biggest gift of my
24th birthday.
I went home and ate the food
that the center provided. While I was guessing how much eggs would be storaged
this time, and I got the call from them. They told me there were 20 eggs were
mature that could be frozen. I looked the
medicine what I brought from clinic, I knew it will be done after I finished
all the medicine. The detail information of my eggs
was shown on the APP I felt surprised again, due to I saw the details of
my eggs and the photos. It was to wonderful.
One day, I will get married
and have kids. I don't want anything stop my future life. I hope my story would
encourage those girls who face the same problem as me. Please don't ignore the body
signals as you are young. Don’t hesitate, believe yourself, be brave, no

I feel
so grateful and happy right now.
I have my baby twins by egg donation. Thanks for everything,
they grow up healthy and start learning walking now. My heart full of love
whenever I hold my babies. This is the feeling of happiness I am eager to have.
Due to Premature ovarian failure, I gave up having a baby long time ago.
However, I still tried infertility treatment for 3 years after I got married.
Unfortunately, it did not work, soon and later, we decided to have egg donation treatment.
We were anxious about everything, but the only thing we knew
was the law of donor program in Taiwan is mature and trustable. At the same
time, we mailed to two different fertility centers in Taiwan. We got a warm and
friendly reply from Celine who worked at Stork Fertility Center.
The
thing we were worried about was language because there were fewer people in
Hsinchu who could speak Japanese than in Taipei. Luckily,
we felt better after visiting the Stork Fertility Center which was bright and
clean. In addition, we felt relieved and comfortable after seeing our
specialist of Stork Fertility Center, Celine, who was always there for us with
kind smile.
Compare
with the experience in Japan, Stork Fertility Center is better and everyone in
here is much nicer. Because of that feeling, I believed in I would have a baby
and bring he/she home with their assistant. After listening Celine’s detail
explanation of egg donation treatment, we decided to match an Asian egg donor. We
completed all the required procedure and then we went back to Japan waiting for
the match result.
After
3 months, the perfect egg donor was found and the surgery was successful as
well. As I went to Taiwan again, I transferred two embryos. After this step, the
Stork offered lots of warm service, like meals and taxi for sending me back to
hotel sooner.
Finally,
it's the day that for pregnancy test. Yes! I was pregnant. The dreams come true.
It’s
been 8 months since I contacted the Stork. I was very lucky everything went
well when I was pregnant. And I delivered the twin babies as 38th
weeks. Both of them are very health.
Although I didn’t feel they looked like me, I still thought they were cute.
I don’t think I’m pretty, so egg donation treatment is a much better option for
me.

My baby just finished his milk; and now he was sleeping in my wife arms while I was writing our story. My wife held my hand and gave me a lovely smile. This simple happiness made me so happy. However, this simple happiness was hard to come by.
My wife and I were considered as late marriage. After marriage, having a child was not our top priority because we were concerned about work, life, and dream more. Around 7 years ago, by seeing friends and colleagues sharing their happy family life with their children, suddenly I felt it’s time to have a child. I discussed with my wife and realized that actually my wife had been thinking about having a baby for a long while, but she never told me because she chose to support and respect my decision. Therefore, we started to trying, completing our physical checkup, taking Chinese-medicine therapy, exercising, adjusting daily diets and living...etc. However, my wife didn't get pregnant. About 3 years ago, we accepted the treatment of IUI, but it didn't work out. We were so disappointed, but we still believe we should try our last chance, IVF.
I still could remember the day we went to see our doctor, it was on February, 2016, it was still cold in Hong-Kong. We met the doctor of Reproductive Medicine from Hong-Kong. He told us" Look at the number of the chart. Because of your age, success rate of IVF is still very low. To be honest, I would like to suggest you not to waste your money on this valueless treatment. Nevertheless, if you still insist on trying, I will try my best to help you. " We appreciated the meaning of doctor's truth and we felt hopeless after the appointment.
We didn’t say any words on the way home; we could not stop crying when we were home. I still remembered that heartbreaking feeling. We decided to have one last treatment of IVF in Hong-Kong. After that, we experienced 4 months treatment: medicine, injection, ova harvest ...etc. Finally, we collected 3 eggs, but only one egg grew up to day 3. We transferred the embryo without knowing the quality of the embryo because they didn't explained it. It had a fair knowledge of consequence, my wife didn't get pregnant. We accepted the result with peace and calm this time.
We didn't give up! And Keeping trying to find hope and success. Suddenly, we have found many research paper all mentioned about "44 years old" is a boundary lines to accept the suggestion of egg donation. What a coincidence, that's also my wife's age of that year. That was the first information regarding egg donation. Therefore, We did lots of search and also knew Stork Fertility Center which is the top of this field, and then we registered for consulting.Soon, the consultant of Stork Fertility Center reached us, answered us all the question of regarding egg donation with detail patiently. So that we made decision right away
Maybe we've got many frustration in Hong-Kong. “So that we looked so tired while arrived Stork Fertility Center.” For that reason, we looked listless when we first time met Doctor Wang. We trusted this team so much, so we didn't take long time to make decision on each step and also believe in Stork Fertility Center would help us pick the best option. For example, there was quality issue on my sperm, after reviewing my physical checkup. Therefore, they suggested the best way for us is using fresh sperm instead frozen sperm to get the good blastocyst. The only thing I needed to do was an extra trip to Taiwan. Everything went so well and showed all suggestions Stork Fertility Center made were so right. We got many good blastocysts. Also we took their advice to transfer one blastocyst that professional team chosen. After transferring, we went back to Hong-Kong waiting and waited for good news.
We really appreciate all the assistant from Stork Fertility Center. Finally, it's my turn to write my
appreciation letter to Stork Fertility Center. My husband and I have been
married for 8 years. We tried many ways to have a child for 7 years. It’s not
easy for us to pray for our own child. it’s a long journey.
In the beginning, whoever introduced
the doctors to me, I would go if they could help me to get the baby. But the Chinese
medicine doctor always told me that my body was too cold to be pregnant. The
treatment I got was herbal medicine and acupuncture…etc. However, it did not
help me become healthier. My endometrial growths got bigger over time instead.
Therefore, I did the three-times of Laparoscopic Surgery. After that my AMH
level dropped to 0.16, which means I don't have many eggs in my ovary. Even so,
I would never give up. I have a wonderful husband and I love him so much. I
want to give him a baby. I will keep trying till last minute.
During the treatment, I have been pregnant four times, but none of them have been grown up. I was so sad and disappointed with myself. I started asking why I could not keep my baby. I did everything I could do and what did I do wrong. I did all the medical inspection, but no one could tell me why I couldn’t get pregnant. I even went to see the doctor of immune dysfunction. The doctor told me the report showed all data looked good. But the devil is still hidden in the details.
All the doctors couldn’t find my
problem of infertility. I felt like I have been pronounced with death penalty.
I really don't want to give up. Fortunately, I saw the commercials of Stork
Fertility Center. It rekindled my hope. I would like to give myself another
chance. I told myself if it failed again, at least I tried. Since then I
started another journey for having baby.
My Attending Doctor of Stork
Fertility Center is Dr. Lai. Because I have already (lost) many times in IVF
treatment, and I lost my confidence. But Dr. Lai is so confident and gave me a
lot of positive vibes. He told me what he wanted was "success rate".
Dr. Lai is a very good doctor. I could feel his attentive and aggressive heart
when he did inquiry. It was so touching, so I cried in the clinic room. I only
did one IVF treatment in Stork, and I have pregnant. Moreover, doctor help me
to transfer to another hospital, for checking my immune dysfunction. In order
to ensure I won't lose my baby again.
Ten months pregnant period, I am
finally holding my baby. Thanks Dr. Lai gave me a healthy child and made me
dream come true. By Looking at my baby,
it reminds me the session of 《Crescent Moon- The Beginning》from Rabindranath Tagore...

Faith

When we are the freshmen of Stork Fertility Center, we have the training program.
One of the course is that we need to entering the examination room, listening doctor's treatment and how to communicate with patients in order to make our advisory smoothly. When the patients tell their own story about the desire of having baby, we more understand what they have been through, and how they want this treatment bring result as expectation. That's why each movement we do is assigned a responsibility. Moreover, this follow-up process will strengthen the establishment of empathy and the special emotional connection with patients.
One of the course is that we need to entering the examination room, listening doctor's treatment and how to communicate with patients in order to make our advisory smoothly. One of my training
program, there is one couple makes me impressive.
"Did you use the
pregnancy test kit at home?" doctor asked. I think that doctor try to make
examine room more relax to ask this question. The husband said " No, we
are too nervous to test by ourselves." And the wife didn't say anything
next to husband. As the doctor open and show that pregnancy strip test, ask the
couple "Could you recognize the second line on the test kit?"
Suddenly, the husband popped up and said " I knew it. I pray to God last
night, and ask the priest. See! Look at my Line message. He told me so in this
message." Compared with silence wife, husband looked to excited. They
pray, pray a lot, pray sincerely. I could see their joy in their eyes. However,
that's my first time and the only one to meet this joyful couple. And I kept
the wife's name in my note.
In this electronic and internet generation, people could make
friends without face-to-face. Reading all the medical record of this couple, it
could tell why they come to Stork fertility center and how hard and serious
they try to have the baby. After reading the paper of medical record, I think I
become more familiar with them.
They began the treatment in Stork fertility center in 2015. After some examination, we are quite sure that tubal and uterus are no problem. However, due to their ages, they registered for oocyte donation program. we matched a young and appropriate donor soon, and we got total 12 mature eggs for this time. The donor gave us 19 mature eggs, and eight blastocysts derived. Two embryos were thawed, and they were graded as 4BB and 4BA. They would have started the first course of treatment, but due to the wife’s persistent bleeding, they decided to cancel after discussion with the doctor. They started the second treatment with transfer a 4BA embryo, but still haven't good news yet.
However, due to the last embryo, the couple were worried about if they still don't have the good news with second transfer, they will spent more time to match another oocyte donor. So we spent a little time to have second match. Soon and later, we got 10 mature embryos. In the same time, second transfer have been finished, and they still don't get the result they want.
Faith, is all around the world. Seeing this couple even face some difficulties, but they haven't been defeated. I will share this story to my customers, and tell them "Faith means believing the unbelievable."
Stork fertility center hold the "Annual Stork Party" every year. The
purpose of this dinner is to invite the parents bring their IVF baby by Stork.
They could share the joy with doctor, and let we could how big babies are. Due
to we see all these babies from egg to embryo, and now they are sweet babies.
Also the parents could share some different life experience with baby. What's
more, the party could remind us the original intention of work "Sweet
baby, Sweet home".

Fall of 2014 was the first time that I got Linda’s phone call for consultation about freezing eggs. Linda said she got our information online. She was very careful for the details about the process of freezing eggs. After that, I got her calls often over the following days. I could feel how strong her determination was, and she really did a lot of homework in freezing egg, IVF and PGS. Also, I knew Linda’s story. Her boyfriend was living in the same city, but they did not meet together frequently because of their own careers. For the future, there were too many unpredictable things between each other, and it seemed that this relationship was about to end.
When Linda started her treatment of
freezing eggs at Stork fertility center, we not only discussed about the treatment itself, but also talked about her feelings in everyday life. I know how eager she was to get more healthy oocytes, and how
brave she was to find the feet in a new single life.
Linda would always tell me that she could get a new
hope during the process. Single life became not the end, instead, it was a brand new milestone to another
journey.
Linda knew that there was a higher
potential that chromosome abnormalities of oocytes could occur at her age, so she wanted to do PGS in the future, making sure that she could have a healthy baby.
When I met Linda at her third time treatment, she looked so amazing.
“Do I look fit now? I started to do some
workouts, and push myself to eat well, sleep well” Linda said to me with a
radiant smile.
She told me that she started joining some
speed dating events, and it was so fun because she became more confident to meet many kinds of people.
“Is that the magic of egg freezing?” I laughed
“Probably yes! I’m not under that strong
stress anymore, and have much more time to find my Mr. Right.” she replied.
A couple months later, good news came. We
got the engagement cake from Linda. She makes me
believe that a positive attitude can always bring some good things to happen. Eventually, Linda found her soulmate
and started her new journey! When Linda and her now husband saw the movie “My Egg Boy”, she
found it was just her own experience. Like the main role, they both went through being lovelorn, and felt
anxious for the future. Thus, Linda wrote down her story to
encourage the women in the same
situation, and helped people to
understand the importance of freezing eggs.

It's so hard to cope with a miscarriage. Whatever circumstances,
pregnancy loss could be devastating. She pushed herself to turn the grieve into
power to go through the recurrent miscarriage.
At age 25, she was just
graduated from college; At 30, she had a stable job and bright career path; At
35, most of the women have their own families and children. She was 36 then and
eager to be a mother. Unfortunately, due to premature ovarian failure, it's
hard to be pregnant with her own eggs. She did a lot of research and brought
all the reports to Stork Fertility Center. After the first consultation, she
registered for the oocytes bank ( Oocytes Bank
Registration). It took only 3 months to complete
the matching process. There were 19 mature eggs available from the anonymous donor.
Finally, she got 10 embryos.
We arranged varieties of
comprehensive examinations for her before embryo transfer: the immune system is
normal; both ovarian tubes are patent ; the polyp in uterus was also removed.
In May,2016, she had her first embryo transfer. The double lines of beta-HCG
test appeared obviously. But she had bleeding suddenly, it cannot help even she
had the medication for stabilization. The double lines faded away.
After one month, she was
ready for another try. But one more problem came to her, the thinner
endometrial thickness. The alert of menopause was alarming. It's lucky that we
can simulate her menstrual cycle by using hormone replacement treatment (HRT).
With good embryos and suitable endometrial thickness, everything was ready.
She was confirmed pregnant again.
Because of the previous experience, she took good care of herself and kept
taking progesterone according to doctor's order. In week 21, she had a large
amount of bleeding, and back to the hospital. Premature amniotic fluid rupture
occurred. It's so hard that her twins were gone.
There are many reasons for
recurrent miscarriage, such as the abnormality of uterus/cervix, immune system
disorders, or embryo chromosome anomalies... etc. After the last miscarriage,
she went through all the examinations again. We found polyps, cyst , and
endometrial lining problems this time. After treatments, she had her third
embryo transfer in July,2017. In the operation room, she talked to our
embryologist that she had miscarriage twice, but she was not defeated. She told
everyone that she would have her baby soon.
It's not easy for an embryo
to implant. There are many factors that may affect the pregnancy, such as
uterus, implantation timing, and maternal status.
This time, she was pregnant!
Our doctor knew we need to give her extra care and attention due to the history
of recurrent miscarriage. The whole pregnancy journey was not easy. Up until
week 35, the twin babies were born!
The journey of trying to be
pregnant is not easy. Nobody knows who created those difficulties and where the
terminal is. Abnormal ovulation, premature ovarian failure, abnormal
chromosomes of embryo, short period of implantation window, all these are the
difficulties that she needed to overcome. But recurrent miscarriage is the most
difficult thing for her to suffer. Fortunately, she can face everything optimistically
and bravely. And she finally fulfill her wish - to be a mother. A mother of
twins!

I was crying when I saw the result of pregnancy test, since I have waited for these "two lines" at least seven years.
I came from Mainland China.
In 1999, I met my now husband at first time. Five years later, we started our relationship, and got married in 2008. I still remembered that our city held the Olympic game then (2008 Bejing Olympic). I was 25, and he was 26. We decided to start our family immediately, and got a positive result of pregnancy test few months later. The specialist of OBGYN gave me some progesterone medication to stabilize the uterine endometrium. However, it was gone eventually, and the doctor said it was spontaneous abortion.
I totally rejected this suggestion. (I tried to ignore that I have heard this option.) A baby from donated oocytes? Is the baby still "my own baby"? I even considered to leave my husband, because I loved him so much. Maybe it would be another way to let him have his own children. Fortunately, He was patient and calm, trying to change my mind.
Then we went to a big hospital for donation consultation together. They said the mating process would take 5-10 years. (!!!) I was 31 years then. Shall I wait for that until I was 40s?
One of my Taiwanese colleague recommended me to consult Taiwanese fertility centers. That's why I called to Stork Fertility Center. The matching time was much shorter than that in Mainland China, and it would take around 1-2 months. My personal agent at center arranged me to complete some documentations and sperm cryopreservation. Soon after, an appropriate donor was matched, and our own embryos were cryopreserved. Before the embryo transfer, I underwent hysteroscopy and hystersalpingography to check the uterine environment.
We stayed in Taiwan around one more week, and I got a positive test result 15 days after transfer. I was crying, because I have waited for our baby at least seven years. I still remembered the outcome of my first pregnancy, and thus I was very nervous in the following weeks. The pregnancy symptoms were severe this time, and I went to hospitals almost every week. I felt that I got stronger and stronger, just like my own baby.
In the end of 2015, it was a more important day than our marriage day.
We have twin girls. One was 2.25kg, and the other was 3 kg.
And we finally became the parents.

No distance is too far for the two loving hearts
If the love is true,
the distance is just the power of making people grow.
As the metro pulled out of the station, the man wrote "I love you" on the window. His girlfriend left on the platform, and still gazed into his eyes. It was always not easy to say goodbye for them, especially the following flashbacks after separation.
In the patients at our fertility center, some couples are living apart by necessity. Their husbands could be in the army, fisherman, or overseas businessman. The wives need to face the daily challenges bravely and maintain their home fully.
She was 37 years old and married her husband 7 years ago. They had no children yet. Before visiting us, she had tried IVF three times and undergone several embryo transfers at the other clinics. The ending of this journey seemed still unclear. The doctor arranged the hormone tests of AMH (as an index of ovarian reserves), Prolactin (PRL), and Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), to evaluate her body status.
Her PRL value was higher than the reference, suggesting that it might interferes the ovulation. Usually, the elevated PRL could be found in the women with breast feeding. However, the PRL could also increase in the women lack of sleep or under stress. The elevated PRL causes hypogonadism, possible anovulatory, and a decrease in menstruation.
The doctor gave her some medications for the hyperprolactinemia, and subsequent IVF treatment. With a declined AMH value as 1.63 ng/ml, the individualized controlled ovarian stimulation protocol was designed. Since her and her husband lived apart, the doctor planned the strategy of egg collection to fit their schedule. The capacity of female eggs are highly correlated with the maternal age. Therefore, the doctor recommends them to collect at least 15 eggs to increase the possibility of success pregnancy. If she would like to have two children, more eggs could be required.
Entering the IVF cycle again made her feel lonely and stressful. After work, she took the bus from Keelung to Hsinchu, and walked to our clinic. The commuting would take three hours every time. Thus she visited us late, and was always the last one at the clinic suite. The obvious exhaust and anxiety showed on her face. She was afraid that she could not catch the lastest bus up. We all knew that it was such a difficulty to her.
Five mature eggs were collected in the first cycle. In this egg retrieval, the doctor found some unsynchronized follicles with small size. Thus she went through the subsequent duoble-OPU to get the surplus eggs. Until she had 8 eggs, her and her husband decided to give a first try.
