Instructions for Medicine Usage (II)

Puregon 50IU

  • Indication and Usage
    • In the female:Puregon is indicated for the treatment of female infertility in the following clinical situations:
      • anovulation (including polycystic ovarian syndrome, PCOS) in women who have been unresponsive to treatment with clomifene citrate;
      • controlled ovarian hyperstimulation to induce the development of multiple follicles in medically assisted reproduction programs.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • The active substance in Puregon, follitropin beta, is a copy of the natural hormone follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). In the body, FSH regulates the reproductive function: in women, it stimulates the production of eggs, and in men, it stimulates the production of sperm by the testicles. Previously, the FSH used as a medicine was extracted from urine. The follitropin beta in Puregon is produced by a method known as ‘recombinant DNA technology’. It is made by a cell that has received a gene (DNA), which makes it able to produce human FSH.
Elonva 100IU and 150IU

  • Indication and Usage
    • Elonva is used in women who are undergoing fertility treatment to stimulate the development of more than one mature egg at a time in the ovaries. It is used together with a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist (a type of medicine also used in fertility treatments).
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • The active substance in Elonva, corifollitropin alfa, is similar to follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), a natural hormone in the body. FSH stimulates the production of eggs in the ovaries. In corifollitropin alfa, a peptide (a short chain of amino acids) is attached to the FSH to prolong its activity in the body. As a result a single dose of the medicine can be given to stimulate egg production for seven days, thereby replacing daily injections that would be required with other FSH medicines.
Gonal-F-75IU
  • Indication and Usage
    • for the induction of ovulation and pregnancy in the anovulatory infertile patient in whom the cause of infertility is functional and not due to primary ovarian failure. Gonal-f is also indicated for the development of multiple follicles in the ovulatory patient participating in an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) program.

  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Gonal-F contains a medicine called "follitropin alfa". Follitropin alfa is a type of "Follicle Stimulating Hormone"(FSH) which belongs to the family of hormones called "gonadotropins". Gonadotropins are involved in reproduction and fertility.
Luveris 75IU
  • indication and Usage
    • Stimulation of follicular development (in conjunction with follitropin) in hypogonadotropic hypogonadal women with profound LH deficiency who do not have primary ovarian failure
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Luveris should be given as a course of daily injections simultaneously with FSH.
Ovidrel-trigger shot

  • Indication and Usage
    • Induction of final follicular maturation at early luteinization in infertile women who have undergone pituitary desensitization at who have been appropriately retreated with follicle stimulating hormones
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Ovidrel is an analogue of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and binds to the LH/hCG receptor of the granulosa and theca cells of the ovary to effect these changes in the absence of an endogenous LH surge. Ovidrel PreFilled Syringe is administered when monitoring of the patient indicates that sufficient follicular development has occurred in response to FSH treatment for ovulation induction.

  • Indication and Usage
    • Adjuvant therapy of prostate carcinoma. Endometriosis. Anjuvant therapy to reduce myoma volume before its surgical removal. Adjuvant therapy of In Vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET) in female infertility.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Decapetyl is synthetic analogue of gonadorelin(GnRH). As a result of the substitution of the 6th amino acid residue in the native molecule, the agonistic effect is more pronounced and the plasma half-life prolonged.

Instructions for Medicine Usage (I)

Progesterone gel

  • Indication and Usage
    • Indicated for progesterone supplementation or replacement as part of an Assisted Reproductive Technology treatment for infertile women with progesterone deficiency.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Crinone is a bioadhesive vaginal gel containing micronized progesterone in an emulsion system. The gel is contained in a polypropylene vaginal applicator, and can be administered vaginally.
Progesterone
  • Indication and Usage
    • Indicated in amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance in the absence of organic pathology, such as submucous fibroids or uterine cancer.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Progesterone injection is a sterile solution of progesterone(oil-based) available for intramuscular use, and can transforms proliferative endometrium into secretory endometrium.
Low molecular weight heparin(LMWH)

  • Indication and Usage
    • Stopping new blood clots formation in your blood.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Enoxaparin is a kind of LMWH that can not only stop the forming of clots in your clot but also inhibit the existing clots becoming bigger.
Saizen
human growth hormone

  • Indication and Usage
    • Indicated for growth hormone deficient patients, gonadal dysgenesis (Turner’s syndrome) and children with growth failure due to inadequate secretion of endogenous growth hormone.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Somatropin is a human growth hormone produced by recombinant DNA technology
Premarin
Estrogen

  • Indication and Usage
    • Indicated in the treatment of atrophic vaginitis and kraurosis vulvae.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Endogenous estrogens are largely responsible for the development and maintenance of the female reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics. Circulating estrogens modulate the pituitary secretion of the gonadotropins, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), through a negative feedback mechanism. Estrogens act to reduce the elevated levels of these gonadotropins seen in postmenopausal women.

Gonadotropinreleasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist

  • Indication and Usage
    • Inhibition of premature LH surges in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    • Cetrorelix acetate is an analog of native (GnRH-antagonist). Cetrorelix acetate controls the release of LH and FSH in a dose-dependent manner by binding to the receptors of GnRH on pituitary cells. This act will inhibit the LH surge in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation.
