IVF Journey x Blastocyst Accumulation
8/27/2018 07:39:00 PM
Several studies have shown maternal age as a determining factor in IVF treatment.
Most of our patient are suffered from diminished ovarian reserve and/or advanced maternal age. For women over 38-year-old, with declined ovarian reserve, accumulating blastocysts is the strategy we use. Both the quality and quantity of oocytes are adversely affected by the age. They may experience repeated IVF failure caused by few or no embryos to transfer. In this cohort, accumulating blastocysts could be used to increase the chance of pregnancy.
What is oocytes accumulation? What is blastocysts accumulation?
Oocytes accumulation aimed at collecting oocytes, and freeze it. After we had collected enough oocytes, we thaw all oocytes and fertilize and culture them in one batch.
Blastocysts accumulation aimed at creating blastocysts and freeze it. After each oocyte retrieval surgery, we fertilize the eggs and culture till day 5~6 then freeze it.
The clinical outcomes of different age using different treatment shown.
But the pregnancy rate of oocytes or blastocyst accumulation did not show a significant difference.
To conclude, for age under 38y/o, the pregnancy rate can be reached around 50~70% regardless of what treatment is used; however, forage over 38y/o, the pregnancy rate will be double using blastocyst instead of oocyte
the pregnancy rate of age over 38y/o is nearly double that of the ovulation pregnancy rate.
How many blastocysts should I collect?
Without pre-implantation genetic screening(PGS), the basis for embryo implantation can only be judged by the developmental speed and appearance level.
Therefore, the pregnancy rate and live birth rate vary with age.
The estimated fee for both treatments is as follow.
To increase the pregnancy rate and live birth rate furthermore, we introduce you the Third generation IVF Plus( PGS + ERA) . For further require, please contact us

[Patient Testimonial] Escape from Death Penalty, Born Again with Oocyte Donation

Finally, it's my turn to write my
appreciation letter to Stork Fertility Center. My husband and I have been
married for 8 years. We tried many ways to have a child for 7 years. It’s not
easy for us to pray for our own child. it’s a long journey.
In the beginning, whoever introduced
the doctors to me, I would go if they could help me to get the baby. But the Chinese
medicine doctor always told me that my body was too cold to be pregnant. The
treatment I got was herbal medicine and acupuncture…etc. However, it did not
help me become healthier. My endometrial growths got bigger over time instead.
Therefore, I did the three-times of Laparoscopic Surgery. After that my AMH
level dropped to 0.16, which means I don't have many eggs in my ovary. Even so,
I would never give up. I have a wonderful husband and I love him so much. I
want to give him a baby. I will keep trying till last minute.
During the treatment, I have been pregnant four times, but none of them have been grown up. I was so sad and disappointed with myself. I started asking why I could not keep my baby. I did everything I could do and what did I do wrong. I did all the medical inspection, but no one could tell me why I couldn’t get pregnant. I even went to see the doctor of immune dysfunction. The doctor told me the report showed all data looked good. But the devil is still hidden in the details.
All the doctors couldn’t find my
problem of infertility. I felt like I have been pronounced with death penalty.
I really don't want to give up. Fortunately, I saw the commercials of Stork
Fertility Center. It rekindled my hope. I would like to give myself another
chance. I told myself if it failed again, at least I tried. Since then I
started another journey for having baby.
My Attending Doctor of Stork
Fertility Center is Dr. Lai. Because I have already (lost) many times in IVF
treatment, and I lost my confidence. But Dr. Lai is so confident and gave me a
lot of positive vibes. He told me what he wanted was "success rate".
Dr. Lai is a very good doctor. I could feel his attentive and aggressive heart
when he did inquiry. It was so touching, so I cried in the clinic room. I only
did one IVF treatment in Stork, and I have pregnant. Moreover, doctor help me
to transfer to another hospital, for checking my immune dysfunction. In order
to ensure I won't lose my baby again.
Ten months pregnant period, I am
finally holding my baby. Thanks Dr. Lai gave me a healthy child and made me
dream come true. By Looking at my baby,
it reminds me the session of 《Crescent Moon- The Beginning》from Rabindranath Tagore...
Your tender softness
bloomed in my youthful limbs, like a glow in the sky before the sunrise.
Heaven's first darling,
twin-born with the morning light, you have floated down the stream of the
world's life, and at last you have stranded on my heart.
As I gaze on your face,
mystery overwhelms me; you who belong to all have become mine.
For fear of losing you
I hold you tight to my breast. What magic has snared the world's treasure in
these slender arms of mine?"

[Patient Testimonial] A letter from a couple who experience Infertility
7/30/2018 11:10:00 PM
I want to encourage other couples that never give up on having their own babies through this letter. Even though there are a lot of depressing things and failures during the time of preparing for pregnancy, if you keep faith and stay positive, your dream will come true someday.
My husband and I, we are both thankful for the effort of Stork Fertility Center. We had our first baby in 2017.
We had a very hard time with having a baby because I had a tumor problem. Also, our parents were putting some pressure on the issue at the time. Having a baby was like being in a nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from, until I found the website of Stork Fertility Center.
We contacted Stork Fertility Center through e-mail the first time, and they replied to us very soon. The Stork Fertility Center server gave us a bunch of IVF information, including information on how to start our IVF treatment, how high our pregnancy rate and potential risk was for our ages, and some instruments of law in Taiwan. Compared with other fertility centers, the servers at Stork Fertility Center were much more active and much more professional than others. Other fertility centers just encouraged us to try their IVF treatments or to do some fertility tests. As a woman who has had a fertility problem for a long time, I was really tired of just hearing words of comfort. I just needed a person or team who could help us to have our own child. However, my husband and I only experienced failure, failure, and more failure before we went to Stork Fertility Center.
After a very short wait, a consultant from Stork Fertility Center gave us more details about how a foreigner can do IVF in Taiwan. She was like our teammate, she was full of enthusiasm, rooted for us, and she also helped us to figure out our paperwork for the instruments of law in Taiwan. Her effort made me hold onto hope again.
When we met with Dr. Wang the first time, my husband and I could see how experienced Dr. Wang was because he gave several examples of his old cases instead of just using a lot of numbers and charts to show pregnancy rates. From the stories of these real cases, we got our confidence back.
Although the following IVF treatment did not go smoothly at first, I became pregnant at the third time BT (Blastocyst Transfer). In my first two BT (Blastocyst Tranfer), we couldn’t find any factor that would have caused these IVF treatments to fail. Because of this, Dr. Wang suggested that we come to Taiwan before we do BT (Blastocyst Transfer) again, and observe my uterus during the period of pre-pregnancy.
As a couple who was living under strong pressure to have our child, we hope readers who face some problems or obstacles like us can still keep their faith and hope for the best for making their own dream come true.
My husband and I want to say “thank you” again to everyone who works in the Stork Fertility Center, and to thank Dr. Wang for designing this incredible treatment for us. We hope Stork Fertility Center can create more amazing stories for more families as well.

Do we try IVF first or have surgery to deal with adenomyosis instead?
7/20/2018 11:00:00 AM
I believe that many women have the experience of dysmenorrheal; but, it doesn’t mean that it is endometriosis, especially is adenomyosis. At the fertility stage, if you are diagnosed with adenomyosis, doctors always say "pregnant is the best treatment."
We all know that In VitroFertilization (IVF) is the fastest and most promising way to be pregnant.
However, which is priority?

We all know that In VitroFertilization (IVF) is the fastest and most promising way to be pregnant.
However, which is priority?
Do we try IVF first or have surgery to deal with adenomyosis instead?
Many people get the information whether from doctors or internet have positive and negative opinions. As opinions vary, no unanimous conclusion can be drawn. Therefore, before making any decisions, you should understand the pros and cons of two options.
What is the adenomyosis?
We must understand the endometriosis first. As the name implies, it means that the endometrial tissue is present entirely outside the uterus. The name of the disease we are familiar with is chocolate cyst. That is endometrial tissue abnormally attaches and grows in the ovaries and responds to monthly hormones. This tissue bleeds and fills the interior of these cysts with un-clotted blood. In contrast, the adenomyosis is a gynecologic medical condition characterized by the abnormal presence of endometrial tissue within the myometrium (the thick, muscular layer of the uterus).
Why does the endometrial tissue run into the myometrium? The real pathogenesis is not completely certain. Some studies indicate that the endometrial tissue may be squeezed into myometrium due to too much intrauterine pressure during delivering the baby or artificial abortion. But this is not the case; many patients had not been pregnant. Some even don’t have any sexual experience.
For patients with adenomyosis, the myometrium is filled with diffuse endometriotic lesions. Therefore, the uterus will become larger, and in severe cases it can be several times larger than the normal uterus.
And it will cause intensive contraction of the myometrium, which will make the blastocyst difficult to implant, or easy to abort and premature birth after pregnancy.
And it will cause intensive contraction of the myometrium, which will make the blastocyst difficult to implant, or easy to abort and premature birth after pregnancy.
If choosing to treat adenomyosis with surgery, the basic principle is to "cut the roots of lesions in the myometrium” and excise it as much as possible so that the uterus can be completely "shaped" to the size of the normal uterus. However, leaving the broken uterus after surgery not only may cause the uterine cavity to deform, but also result in the blastocyst cannot be implanted successfully. It is also easy to hurt the ovarian function, result in a decrease in the number and quality of the oocytes, and affect the future treatment of IVF; Even, it may increase the risk of uterine rupture during pregnancy and threaten the mother and child's life. But, if excessively preserving the function of the uterus during the surgery, the symptoms cannot be completely cured. The pregnancy rate of doing IVF cannot be increased, and also wasting the time and health cost of the patient.
For women who are seeking pregnancy, the treatment must be different depending on the degree of symptoms and personal conditions. If the ovarian function is normal, in other words, the index of Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is above 2, and the age is below 38, you can consider the surgical reduction of the uterus, then treating it with the GnRH agonist such as Leuplin for 3 to 6 months, and then doing the IVF immediately. On the other hand, if the ovarian function has already been declining, we should undergo oocytes-retrieval several times to collect enough oocytes or blastocyst and then treat with surgery and injections. After the uterus is restored, we can have blastocyst transfer to increase the pregnancy rate.
